Sesame Street Party Games

The real substance of your Sesame Street party, or any party for that matter, is the games. Games can be used to break up tension (for shy ones), get kids socializing, and maybe even help them learn a thing or two. We also have to admit it – games are fun for adults too! It is not everyday we are allowed to be a kid again and just get silly!
Cookie Monster Challenge
It is no secret that kids love cookies! What better way to make the day special – and I mean VERY special – by letting them have a cookie eating contest. This may be a scary thought at first … 10+ kids hyped up on sugar overload!? Fear not! There are ways to have a Cookie Monster Challenge without sending them into sugar-shock or triggering tummy-aches.
Make cookies that are sugar free. No, they won't be nutritional by any stretch of the imagination. However, they will be a great alternative to pure sugar chaos if you opt for cookies made up of primarily sugar.
Instead of determining the Cookie Monster based on how many cookies are eaten in a set time, determine it by how much time it takes them to eat a set amount of cookies. You can do as little as 3 cookies per child. Now, remember, this is Cookie Monster … in the heat of the moment and passion for the cookie half of it will end up on the floor. That's just his style! Be sure to remind the kids, or give a demonstration. Come on, you know you want to!
Big Bird Egg Roll
The game has been around for a very long time, but at a Sesame Street party you can give it a fresh spin. Kids will love it because it can get very messy – which means you will definitely want to do it outside!
Boil up 3 eggs per guest. They do not need to be eaten so don't worry about them being cooked to taste. These are just for destroying! ![]()
Make sure you have plastic spoons for everyone that will be a part of the race. Some game variations involve using long wooden spoon or attaching spoons to sticks. That is not a must though. Sometimes it is much more interesting watching tall people try to race an egg to the finish line while basically crawling on the ground.
The game itself is very simple. Gather everyone outside and line them up. Explain the rules: Use the spoon (no hands!) to roll the egg across the finish line.
Step back and watch as kids, and maybe adults, scramble to find the best way to get there the fastest. You will surely get a good laugh!
Sesame Street Challenge
Sesame Street is all about learning. This is a great opportunity to come up with or play games that involve the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, and just plain fun challenges.
Who can sing the alphabet fastest?
Who can count the highest?
Who can draw the shape fastest?
Who can guess the color of mixed colors? For example: Red + Yellow = Orange
Always keep in mind that the games are meant to be fun! You can consider giving away small prizes to the winners which you can find at a party store. These can then be part of the kids party favors which they will love and tell their friends about!
Sometimes kids can get a little competitive and need to be reminded a few times that the results won't matter, it is just to have fun!
